Elastomer Socket for High Bandwidth Applications
1 min read
GHz BGA & QFN/MLF sockets are ideal for prototyping and testing almost any BGA or QFN device application. These ZIF sockets provide excellent signal integrity yet remain cost effective. Innovative elastomer interconnect technology that delivers low signal loss (1dB at 8 GHz or 10GHz) and supports BGA or QFN/MLF pitches down to 0.3mm was utilized in these sockets.
Elastomer Socket for High Bandwidth 0.5mm Pitch 10SOIC with Exposed Pad
Socket your High Speed SOIC IC using elastomer socket with superior electrical performance
Ironwood Electronics has recently introduced a new high performance SOIC socket for 0.5mm pitch 10 pin SOIC. The SG-SOIC-3005 socket is designed for 3mm x 3mm x 1mm package size with 5mm lead tip to tip with exposed pad on the bottom and operates at bandwidths up to 10 GHz with less than 1dB of insertion loss. The contact resistance is typically 20 milliohms per I/O. The socket connects all pins with 10 GHz bandwidth on all connections. The socket is mounted using supplied hardware on the target PCB with no soldering, and uses smallest footprint in the industry. The smallest footprint allows inductors, resistors and decoupling capacitors to be placed very close to the device for impedance tuning. The socket also incorporates swivel lid with compression screw, so that IC's can be changed out quickly. The socket features a floating compression plate to force down the QFP leads on to elastomer along with individual lead alignment mechanism. There is also a hard stop feature built into the compression mechanism.
The SG-SOIC-3005 sockets are constructed with high performance and low inductance gold plated embedded wire on elastomer as interconnect material between device and PCB. The temperature range is -35C to +100 C. The pin self inductance is 0.15 nH and mutual inductance of 0.025 nH. Capacitance to ground is 0.01 pF. Current capacity is 2 amps per pin.
