New from binder are M12 A-coded specially made for applications in the food & beverage markets where more stringent hygiene requirements have to be met for machinery and systems as well as their components. This also applies to the connectors used.High-quality materials such as stainless steel and special plastics are therefore necessary, and the contour should be as smooth as possible to prevent dirt adhesion. In addition, a high protection class (IP68 and IP69K) is required as the systems are also cleaned under high pressure. Since cleaning often involves the use of aggressive chemicals, the connectors must be permanently resistant to these.
binder has introduced moulded male/female cable connectors, angled male/female connectors and connecting cables with M12 threads, the moulded heads are made from creamy white polypropylene plastic (RAL 9001). The cables used are PVC cables with a grey cable jacket. This specification ensures that these versions not only look different from the standard connectors; the light surface means dirt and residue are easy to see.
In addition to the existing tests and the UL certification (in preparation), the connectors have also been given the Ecolab test seal, which confirms the material’s resistance to detergents and disinfectants. The connectors are available in three-, four and five-pole versions in accordance with DIN EN 61076-2-101 and DIN EN 61076-2-104 respectively. Potential new areas in which the M12 and M8 applications can be used include, in particular, industrial food processing, for example cheese dairies, dairies, slaughterhouses, bottling plants or general storage of food.
