Ginsbury Genie uses Intel Atom to provide full PC compatibility
The Ginsbury Genie is a versatile, easy to use, embedded computing platform designed for industrial applications and embedded systems. The low power Intel Atom E38xx based design, can be supplied complete with a fully integrated TFT display module, provides full PC compatibility. Following consultation with UK customers and suppliers, the Ginsbury Genie has been designed and developed to meet the needs for a cost-effective, functional and adaptable embedded computing solution.
The embedded computing platform provides full PC compatibility, low power consumption and a compact mechanical footprint. The Ginsbury Genie offers a genuine alternative to more expensive PC-based systems, while still offering support for a wide range of Windows software which is essential for companies with an investment in legacy software.
Utilising a dual-core 1.46GHz Intel Atom E38xx 64-bit processor, the Ginsbury Genie implements a fan-less design that boasts a power consumption of less than 10Watts (depending on usage). Up to 2GB of system memory is available, with an on-board SATA SDD providing storage capacity starting at 32GB. Support for a range of different connectivity and expansion options include: Mini PCI-Express card slot for additional peripherals, one USB 3.0 port, three USB 2.0 ports, RS-232 serial port, Gigabit Ethernet port and a Micro SD card slot. A user defined expansion header can also be used for general purpose I/O, I2C, SPI or UART.
The Ginsbury Genie supports a wide range of fully integrated TFT LCD display modules driven via a dual-channel LVDS interface. A range of LCD panels is supported, including 7.0” WVGA (800 x 480), 10.4” SVGA (800 x 600), 12.1” XGA (1024 x 768), 15” XGA (1024 x 768) and 17.3” Full HD (1920 x 1080). An integrated touchscreen controller supports 4 and 5-wire resistive touch panels. Support for other display sizes, resolutions and touchscreen technologies is also available.
The embedded platform features compact mechanical dimensions of 199mm (w) x 112mm (d) x 35mm (h) and an operating temperature range of 0° to +70°C which enables the Ginsbury Genie to be used in a wide range of systems and applications.
The Ginsbury Genie supports Windows 7, 8.1 and 10, Linux and Android Lollipop operating systems. The built-in (EUFI) BIOS enables basic configuration and the ability to boot from SD card, USB or SATA drives.
Manufactured and supported in the UK, the Ginsbury Genie has been designed and developed specifically to meet the needs and requirements of customers seeking a high reliability, configurable PC compatible embedded platform.
