The MagI³C Module series
1 min read
Wurth Electronics have entered into the integrated power module arena with the MagI³C Module series, with both fixed (FDRM) and variable (VDRM) output voltage capabilities.
The MagI³C Module series comprises of a fully integrated non isolated current mode DC/DC power supply with the switching power stage, control circuitry, integrated inductor all in one package. Additional features are built-in compensation circuitry and soft-start, for a smooth and safe power up.
The power module family is split into 2 main categories, both offering a very simple design solution to power requirements. Both the 5 pin TO263-5 FDRM and the 7 PIN TO263-7EP VDRM devices have an industry standard footprint featuring a low profile and a small outline. There are a number of parts to choose from in the range taking voltage inputs from 5-42V, tunable output of 0.8V to 24V and from 1A to 5A per part. Specifically developed to cover most on board power requirements.
Simple design guide rules should enable compliance to EN55022 Class B emissions limit, coupled with high efficiency these parts have been designed with high density, technological boards in mind.
The FDRM (fixed output) series offers high efficiency even at light loads, using a PFM burst mode. It also provides an ON/OFF feature with current consumption of less than 10µA when in OFF mode. Power good and sync outputs are available along with internal protection such short circuit lock out, thermal shut down, over current, over and under voltage. The VDRM again is split into higher and lower voltage output devices with output currents up to 5A, ideal for the latest low voltage FPGA circuits with high transient current jumps.
Not least these parts are available from stock for next day delivery with Evaluation boards and samples to your disposal could it be the answer to our on board power solutions.
