DSP specialist tries to silence vuvuzelas
In response to unprecedented complaints from FIFA World Cup tv viewers and broadcasters, digital signal processing specialist Waves Audio has announced a solution which it claims dramatically reduces the continuous noise of the vuvuzela horn.
Working in conjunction with a tv broadcaster, Waves says it has crafted a real time processing chain consisting of two plugins which has proved effective in solving the problem of the incessant parping.
According to Waves, by combining the WNS Waves Noise Suppressor and the Q10 Paragraphic Equalizer audio plugins, the Vuvuzela noise is not only reduced, but the intelligibility of the commentary is improved. The processing chain is now being used by several major broadcast outlets.
