$177million expansion could create 150 jobs

Intel has announced it is to make an investment worth $177million on a three year design centre expansion.

The scheme is part a strategy to focus on increasing development activities, staffing and educational initiatives at Intel's Guadalajara Design Centre (GDC), Mexico. The centre focuses on the design, testing and validation of ICs and other hardware, and education software technologies used in Intel products sold globally. Intel says that as a result of the expansion approximately 150 additional technical jobs will be created over the next three years. Intel president and ceo, Paul Otellini, said:"As a global computing leader, we believe that investing in the future of discovery is an essential business decision. The highly technical work being done at our research centre here has been extraordinary, and today we are taking it to a new level."
