Research centre's expansion could create 300 jobs
Nanolectronics research institute, IMEC has begun an expansion programme which will allow it to increase its research on 32nm cmos, solar cells and biomedical electronics.
The Belgian institute hopes that the upgrade will create around 300 extra jobs, in addition to its current staff of 1650 people.
The 2800m2 extra lab space will incorporate a 1200m2 ultra cleaning processing area as an extension of its current clean room, ensuring that IMEC's research conforms to industry standards.
Gilbert Declerck, IMEC's ceo, said: "We are proud that we can further expand IMEC's activities so that we continue to offer valuable R&D programmes to… Europe and the world of tomorrow."
