4G haptics platform is first for smartphones
Cambridge-based start up Redux Labs has launched what it says is the first 4G haptics platform for smartphones.
The customisable Bullfinch-SP001 mimics the sensation of real world keys on a flat screen with no perceivable time lag. The inclusion of pressure sensing technology also enables users to feel the key before they press down.
Bullfinch-SP001-D uses two Redux small form factor transducers, positioned at either end of the touchscreen, to deliver this feedback. These are controlled via an ARM Cortex-M3 microprocessor, running patented algorithms.
The platform assimilates touch co-ordinate data from the touch panel and a touch sensitive layer. The company's patented bending wave physics technology instantly relays the feedback back to the point/points of contact.
