ADI debuts 'fastest' SAR a/d converter
Said to be twice as fast as any available SAR converter on the market, the AD7960 from Analog Devices is optimised for excellent throughput, best in class noise floor and high linearity.
The 18bit PulSAR a/d converter is designed for use in low power signal chains, multiplexed systems such as digital X-ray, and oversampling applications including spectroscopy, MRI gradient control and gas chromatography.
Unlike other 18bit a/d converters which sacrifice power and accuracy to achieve higher sample rates, the AD7960 consumes 39mW at 5MS/s and is optimised to achieve a dc linearity of +/- 0.8 LSB INL and ac performance of 99dB SNR, even at full throughput.
The converter also features a noise floor of 22.4nV/vHz, helping designers meet space, thermal and power design challenges.
