Alba brings wireless power to market
Wireless power developer Splashpower has signed a licensing agreement with Alba under which the latter will distribute wireless power products to the consumer market.
Under terms of the agreement, Alba will design and manufacture products based on Splashpower’s inductive charging technology. Initial products, planned for Q3 this year, will feature a charging unit and add on receivers purchased through retail stores and online. The universal charger will support a range of mobile phones and MP3 players.
In a second phase of market development scheduled for Q4 2008, Alba and Splashpower will support the integration of wireless power receivers into a range of handheld consumer devices with technology and manufacturing expertise.
“We believe the wireless power market has exceptional growth potential and Splashpower leads this area with its technology,” said Alba’s ceo Daniel Harris. “By using the strengths of both companies, we believe we will provide products with significant consumer appeal as well as providing users with the ultimate in charging convenience.”
