ARM drives Mali gpu performance for top end mobile graphics

ARM has introduced two new Mali graphics cores; a high end part aimed at tablets and smartphones, and one for entry level Android devices.
Developed for SoC providers, the ARM Mali-T760 gpu is said to offer an increase in energy efficiency and performance of approximately 400% over the ARM Mali-T604 gpu.
As well as faster time to market, the chip also promises to deliver a 50% saving in total memory bandwidth utilisation, due to a reduction in internal SoC bandwidth.
The ARM Mali-T720 gpu is a cost optimised solution targeted at entry level Android devices.
ARM says it delivers a 150% energy increase over the ARM Mali-400 gpu, as well as faster implementation through high routing density and a simplified design.
Pete Hutton, executive vp and general manager of ARM's media processing Division, said: "The Mali-T700 series builds on our industry leadership in balancing power, area and functionality while incorporating new energy saving features at the high end and matching the time to market dynamics of the low end.
"This combination gives our SoC partners a competitive edge, without compromising on performance and energy efficiency."
