ARM has announced revenues of £714.6million for its 2013 financial year. The figure is 24% higher than in 2013 and has generated a profit before tax of £364m. ARM says it has entered 2014 with a strong order backlog and a 'healthy pipeline' of opportunities.
According to the company, a strong licensing performance in 2013 saw good progress across its established markets, with 'significant inroads' into servers and smart embedded applications.
Chief executive Simon Segars, pictured, noted: "ARM saw good progress in Q4 as our latest technology was chosen by major companies in all our target markets, with further licenses signed for our latest ARMv8-A processors, Mali graphics processors and physical IP technology."
The company signed 26 processor licences and noted 'momentum continues' in computing, servers and networking applications with the signing of an ARMv8 architecture licence and two ARMv8 processor licences. The licenses were signed with 22 companies, more than half of whom were new licensees. Included were 15 licenses for the Cortex-M family, taking the total number of licenses to more than 200 amongst more than 150 companies.
Meanwhile, 2.9billion ARM chips shipped in the quarter, an increase of 16% over the same quarter in 2012. Faster growth was seen in entry level mobile devices, microcontrollers and smart sensors
