Audio amp boost converter provides 36% louder audio
Texas Instruments has introduced a 2W mono Class D audio amplifier which it claims delivers 36% louder audio than competitive devices, consistent across the Li-Ion battery range.
Incorporating an integrated boost converter, TI claims the TPA2015D1 allows more than twice the battery life compared to the nearest competing amplifier and is available in a 2 x 2mm WCSP package. It is designed for space constrained applications such as smart phones, notebooks, portable navigation devices and portable docking stations.
The amplifier incorporates battery monitoring automatic gain control (AGC) and SpeakerGuard technology which is designed to prevent early shutdown at low battery voltages and prevent clipping, protecting speakers.
