The addition of Secure-IC’s portfolio of embedded security IP, security solutions, security evaluation tools and services will augment Cadence’s existing portfolio of silicon-proven IP, including interface, memory, AI/ML and DSP solutions.

“In our increasingly interconnected world, every semiconductor, chiplet and electronic system will require embedded security,” said Boyd Phelps, senior vice president and general manager of the Silicon Solutions Group at Cadence.

Phelps said that the addition of Secure-IC’s embedded security IP and solutions highlighted Cadence’s ongoing commitment to its SoC design partners as, “they navigate the complexities of bringing AI-enabled SoCs and disaggregated designs to market faster and with greater impact.”

Secure-IC’s customer base includes the likes of SK Hynix Memory Solutions America, Synaptics, Silicon Labs and Faraday Technology, which span key verticals worldwide, including automotive, data centre, networking, IoT and consumer electronics.

The acquisition is seen as offering new market opportunities for Cadence’s existing IP offerings, such as protocol controllers and AI accelerators to better support customers utilising various processor architectures.

“Secure-IC has developed a portfolio of cutting-edge technologies, multi-certified and compliant to worldwide cybersecurity regulations, that protect a broad range of assets and by joining Cadence, we will create a powerful synergy that accelerates innovation. Together, we are poised to scale globally, deliver enhanced value to our customers and pioneer the next generation of embedded cybersecurity solutions for complex silicon systems and chiplets,” said Hassan Triqui, co-founder and CEO of Secure-IC.

Secure-IC has delivered comprehensive security solutions to a wide range of partners and customers and has completed over 500 successful projects worldwide.

This acquisition will combine Cadence’s experience in IP and subsystem design with Secure-IC’s embedded cybersecurity solutions, enabling Cadence to increase its support of customers in the evolving world of SoCs.

For Secure-IC the acquisition will enhance its global reach. The integration of Secure-IC’s complementary solutions (Securyzr , Laboryzr and Expertyzr ) into Cadence’s portfolio will broaden its capabilities and strengthen support for a more diverse range of industries and businesses - solutions will now feature comprehensive end-to-end integrated security, that is easily provisionable and deployable.

Secure-IC’s addition to Cadence is seen as having a significant impact in the context of chiplet systems and complex silicon solutions, building on the companies’ success working together in the flagship chiplet project recently unveiled by Cadence.

Headquartered in Rennes, France, Secure-IC has eight additional offices and research centres worldwide.

The transaction is expected to close in the first half of 2025.
