CRT recycler is award winner
Global Environmental Recycling has been named the Repic Award for Electrical and Electronic Recycler of the Year for its contribution to the recycling of CRT waste in the UK.
Despite having only been established 12 months ago, Global Environmental Recycling is now recycling around 80% of the UK’s CRT waste. The Birkenhead based company can process 10tonne of CRT glass or 800 tv sets an hour.
The technology fragments the CRTs, then removes toxic materials such as lead and mercury. Glass at the end of the process is pure enough that it is no longer classified as waste and can go back into CRT manufacturing.
