DC/DC converters support railway applications
1 min read
TDK-Lambda has expanded its dc/dc converter portfolio with the introduction of the CN-A Series, which supports inputs ranging from 60 to 160V dc, widely used in railway applications.
Available with nominal output voltages ranging from 5V to 24V (±10%) and power ratings of up to 100W, the fully regulated and isolated power supplies come in the industry standard quarter brick footprint.
The CN-A modules are suitable for both rolling stock and fixed installations, enabling cost effective EN50155 compliant systems to be designed without the risks associated with custom products and in a much shorter timescale.
Meeting the shock and vibration requirements of IEC61373 Category 1 Class B*, as well as the Japanese equivalent standard JIS E 4031, these baseplate-cooled power supplies operate in temperatures ranging from -40 to 100°C without derating. Power conversion efficiencies of up to 88% are claimed and power densities of up to 60.5W/in3 are possible.
As standard, the converters are equipped with remote sense and remote on/off, with input to output isolation of 3000V ac. The parts also feature overvoltage and overcurrent protection.
