Device reduces charging time by half
In a bid to significantly reduce the charging time of mobile devices such as Smartphones and tablet pcs, ST-Ericsson has launched a new power management solution which it claims cuts charging time in half. The PM2300 is part of ST-Ericsson's new PowerHUB range of eco friendly products, which are able to draw energy from solar cells, wireless chargers and physical movement.
"We are creating easier, greener and faster ways to power up mobile devices," said Patrick Dureault, vice president at ST-Ericsson. "With the PM2300, a 3amps charger can be used instead of the standard 1.5amps, allowing people to recharge their batteries more quickly and enjoy a better mobile experience."
The first tablets equipped with the PM2300 are set for commercial launch in Autumn 2011.
