The speakers are Thomas Boehm, Senior Vice President and General Manager Microcontroller Automotive at Infineon Technologies and Erik Norden, Chief Technology Officer of a stealth start-up (former key roles at Apple, Google and NVIDIA).
Boehm will discuss ‘Dependable microcontroller architectures – challenges and opportunities in a fast-changing automotive market’ and will be examining market trends and covering key issues such as increasing complexity and integration of electronic control systems, stringent requirements for dependability, upcoming AI technologies and scalability to meet the cost targets of affordable cars. Boehm will offer insights into the relevance of open source technologies for future hardware and software designs.
Norden’s keynote is entitled ‘Next 10x in AI – System, Silicon, Algorithms, Data’ and it will offer a holistic view of the evolving AI landscape, providing engineers with a roadmap for navigating and contributing to the future of AI acceleration and its applications.
The presentation will delve into efficient codesign for accelerated computing, highlighting techniques like flash attention, quantization, compression, alongside silicon and system innovation, and examines emerging trends like retrieval-augmented Large Language Models (LLMs), multimodal systems and agents, while emphasising the crucial role of data quality and training methods.
“I am very excited to hear from both our speakers this year,” said Mark Burton, general chair of the DVCon Europe steering committee. “DVCon Europe has a history of pivotal keynotes, and I’m confident this year will be no exception; we have two speakers who are really at the forefront of our industry, especially in the realms of Automotive and AI which will be strong themes throughout our conference.”
Thomas Boehm currently leads Infineon’s automotive microcontroller business unit, with P&L responsibility for major multi-core product families AURIX and TRAVEO, as well as PSoC and respective software products. He started his career at Mannesmann VDO as a design engineer. Over the last two decades he has contributed to major innovations in automotive semiconductors at Motorola and Freescale, as well as Infineon Technologies.
Erik Norden has had a storied career pushing the boundaries of AI and hardware acceleration. Currently he is CTO of an AI startup and advisor to a robotics start-up. His past roles have included spearheading the invention of the Neural Engine at Apple and playing a key role in advancing the Tensor Processing Unit architecture at Google. He was also instrumental in kickstarting computer vision acceleration efforts at NVIDIA and has had roles at Intel and Infineon.
