The results of the NMI's third annual employment survey are said by the association to show the electronics industry in the UK is in good health. Amongst the report's findings are that 57% of respondents are recruiting, 44% of respondents are planning to increase salaries and 71% plan to recruit graduates in the next 12 months.
John Moor, pictured, VP of marketing, said: "The findings are very encouraging and illustrate increasing demand for engineering talent at all levels.
"The UK is recognised internationally as a technology power house, with many global brands choosing to invest here directly. When you add to this the Government's desire to support innovation and renewed interest in our manufacturing capabilities, then you can see we have a lot to be optimistic about."
The survey also found that staff turnover is increasing in many companies. Average turnover in last 12 months was found to be more than 18%, described by NMI as a 'significant increase' from the previous year, in which the average was 5%. According to the survey, 36% of companies reported staff turnovers in excess of 10%.
The improved outlook for graduates is also highlighted. Of those responding to the survey, 57% had recruited a graduate in the last 12 months and the NMI acknowledged efforts by the UK Electronics Skills Foundation in this respect.
