Socionext and Varjo used Embedded World to announce an ongoing co-operation around Varjo’s next-generation VR/XR solutions. The company’s next generation VR/XR headset is based on a combination of the company’s patented human-eye resolution technology and Socionext’s Milbeaut image signal processing solutions.
Varjo has developed a VR/XR headset display that can visualize images at 70MP with a 100° fieldof-view, which is far beyond what is supported by current first-generation VR headsets.
The camera processing is extremely complex and Varjo said that it uses Socionext’s Milbeaut high-performance image signal processor technology to provide the high imaging resolution and quality required.
Cypress Semiconductor unveiled a serial nonvolatile memory family offering improved levels of performance and reliability for mission-critical data capture.
The Excelon Ferroelectric Random Access Memory (F-RAM) family provides high-speed nonvolatile data logging, preventing data-loss even in harsh automotive and industrial operating environments over extreme temperatures. The Excelon Auto series offers 2-Mb to 4-Mb automotive-grade densities, while the Excelon Ultra series offers 4-Mb to 8-Mb industrial-grade densities.

Diodes Incorporated used Embedded World to introduce the ZXGD3113 synchronous rectifier controller. When coupled with a MOSFET, the pairing can be used to replace lossy Schottky rectifiers in power supplies based on a flyback or resonant converter topology.
The ZXGD3113 controls an external MOSFET, such as the 100V 16mΩ N-channel DMT10H015LPS, configured to operate as an ideal diode. Replacing a Schottky rectifier with the ZXGD3113+MOSFET can significantly increase the efficiency of AC-DC power supplies targeting the industrial, consumer and telecommunications markets.
Improved efficiency means that there is no need for a heatsink to save space compared to a lossy Schottky rectifier. Furthermore, the smaller form-factor SOT26 reduces the solution size from the industry-standard SO8 and, by operating up to 250kHz, the PSU designers can use smaller transformers, further saving space and BOM costs.
