First high performance repeaters optimised for 6G SAS/SATA

Integrated Device Technology has announced what it describes as the 'industry's first' high performance repeaters optimised for 6G SAS/SATA standards.
The mixed signal semiconductor specialist says that its new family of repeater devices also include support for the PCI Express Gen2 (PCIe), Serial RapidIO 2.1 and USB3.0 standards for computing, storage and communications applications.
According to IDT, the new devices have been tailored to address signal integrity issues by combining analogue performance with low power and optimising them to offer low power consumption.
The IDT 89HP0XD X family of repeaters conditions high speed IO when driving on board long traces, backplane traces and cables to external devices. This, says IDT, provides the best possible signal integrity and alleviates board layout constraints.
The devices incorporate receive equalisation and transmit de-emphasis capabilities, loss of signal detection and individual channel loopback diagnostic capabilities, as well as 2:1 mux/demux functions.
The range is suitable for applications which require the transmission of high speed signals over long distances without sacrificing signal integrity. These include computing, storage, telecommunications, industrial and active cables.
IDT is currently sampling the 4channel option, with 2 and 8 channel options sampling in early 2010.
