Freescale shrinks Kinetis mcus, targets IoT applications
Extending its Kinetis family, Freescale has introduced a new range of miniature mcus for next generation Internet of Things (IoT) devices.
Starting at 1.9 x 2mm, the ARM powered Kinetis mini mcus are available in a variety of tiny chip-scale packages.
Freescale says they meet the needs of today's embedded designers and will enable the future needs of the IoT.
"Kinetis mini mcus allow designers to dramatically reduce the size of their boards and products, while retaining the performance and features of their end devices," said the company in a statement.
Offering up to 1MB flash, the devices are targeted at applications such as intelligent wearables (including watches and cameras), portable medical monitoring and various tablet/phone accessories.
