Funding boost for led start up
Looking to create simple and more cost effective methods for led lamp manufacture, VTT Ventures and Lumichip have announced a joint investment in Finnish led technology specialist, LightTherm.
The start up company, a spin off from VTT, has developed an innovative led interconnection solution designed to yield better thermal characteristics and cooler semiconductor junction temperatures.
The technology is also optimised to provide higher light output, leaner sizing and lighter weight.
"The high thermal management efficiency of this technology enables significantly higher light output - for example from replacement spots - than is currently available anywhere in the led market," said Dr Juha Rantala, chairman of Lumichip. "We believe this will change completely the way in which led products are manufactured in the future."
