SIA President and CEO John Neuffer said that the global semiconductor market had achieved a record-breaking sales year in 2024, exceeding $600 billion in annual sales for the first time. Looking ahead, the SIA said that it expected the market to see double-digit growth in 2025.

SIA represents 99% of the US semiconductor industry by revenue and nearly two-thirds of non-US chip companies.

According to the SIA, fourth-quarter sales in 2024 reached $170.9 billion, a 17.1% increase compared to the same period in 2023 and a 3.0% rise from the third quarter of 2024.

Global semiconductor sales in December 202, however, totalled $57.0 billion, reflecting a 1.2% decline from November 2024.

Sale broken down regionally showed a yearly increase in sales in the Americas (44.8%), China (18.3%), and Asia Pacific/All Others (12.5%), but down in Japan (-0.4%), and Europe (-8.1%) in 2024.

In December 2024, month-to-month sales increased by 3.2% in the Americas, while other regions saw declines, with Asia Pacific/All Others down 1.4%, China decreasing 3.8%, Japan falling 4.7%, and Europe experiencing the largest drop at 6.4%.

Certain semiconductor product segments showed particularly strong performance in 2024 sales.

According to SIA, logic products led the market in 2024, generating $212.6 billion in sales, making them the top-selling product category. Memory products ranked second, with sales $165.1 billion. Notably, DRAM products, within the memory sector, experienced the highest percentage growth of any category, with sales soaring 82.6% in 2024.
