Handheld spectrum analyser provides broadest ever frequency range

Anritsu has unveiled the MS272xC Spectrum Master series at electronica 2010, which it says provides the broadest frequency range ever available in a handheld spectrum analyser.
The device weighs less than 8lbs and provides frequency coverage up to 43GHz and has been designed with an range of applications to test the rf physical layer.
The range consists of five models, with frequency coverage of 9, 13, 20, 32 and 43GHz.
Anritsu says that the new technology will eliminate the need to carry bench top spectrum analysers to measure signals above 20GHz. Integrated with a spectrum analyser, the device can be ordered with a channel scanner and interference analyser to conduct all common field measurements, eliminating the need for multiple instruments.
A number of 3G/4G options can be incorporated into the spectrum analysers to measure LTE, HSPA+, W-CDMA, CDMA/EV-DO, GSM/EDGE, TD-SCDMA/HSDPA, and WiMAX signals.
The analyser has a sweep time of 27s for a 43GHz span with a 30kHz RBW. It aims to deliver phase noise of -100dBc/Hz at 10kHz offset at 1GHz and dynamic range of 104dB.
Designed with a broadband preamplifier, the instruments have a sensitivity of -160dBm at 1GHz and -147dBm at 40GHz to detect small signals. A menu driven screen is incorporated to make it easy to conduct all measurements.
