Highest power density dc/dc converter

Called the PRM48BH480T200A00, the device is supplied in a half chip package measuring 16.5 x 22 x 6.7mm. An efficiency of 97% is claimed at 200W and the device offers the same power density as a 400W full size PRM. The part takes a nominal 48Vdc supply (38 to 55V), producing a regulated, adjustable 5 to 55V output. The zero voltage switching buck/boost topology and a switching frequency of around 1MHz are said not only to enable high efficiency, but also to enable a power density of more than 1300W/in³. The PRM can be used as a standalone, non isolated voltage regulator or combined with V•I Chip's full chip or half chip VTM current multipliers. An external control loop and current sensor maintain regulation and enable flexibility in the design of voltage and current compensation loops for precise power delivery.
