Integration initiative
Infineon will coordinate the five participating German partners in a new pan European research project aimed at making electronic devices more compact and more efficient.

In all, 17 companies and research institutes are collaborating in MaxCaps – the MAterials for neXt generation CAPacitorS and memories project – which is looking to develop ways to integrate capacitors on silicon. This, the partners believe, could reduce number of discrete capacitors mounted on pcbs by 30%, while increasing reliability.
The German partners will demonstrate their research results by developing a capacitor network for an automobile transmission control unit.
