The company said that Project Larrabee would be relegated to being used as a software development platform for internal and external use. The project was originally announced in April 2007 as a multicore chip capable of teraflop performance but this was followed by delays and official announcements on any progress remained vague.
Intel spokesman, Nick Knupffer, said: "Larrabee silicon and software development are behind where we hoped to be at this point in the project. As a result, our first Larrabee product will not be launched as a standalone discrete graphics product. We remain committed to delivering world class many core graphics products to our customers."
