Intersil introduces complete solutions for embedded and low power cpu/gpu cores

Intersil has expanded its portfolio of multi phase dc/dc controllers with the introduction of two new modules. The ISL95835 and ISL95837 are designed to provide a complete low cost solution for cpu and gpu core power while delivering 'best in class' transient response and efficiency.

Both modules comply with Intel's IMVP-7/VR12 specification for smart voltage regulation to reduce power dissipation in the second generation lntel Core-i5/i7 processors. Intersil claims they are the industry's smallest solutions available, combining functionality and reduced pin count. The ISL95837 is optimised for lower power, thin and light applications. The ISL95835 and ISL95837 are based on Intersil's R3 technology, a hybrid of fixed frequency pwm control and variable frequency hysteretic control that is said to deliver the industry's fastest transient response. Intersil claims the R3 modulator delivers faster transient settling time than typical modulators. It is designed to automatically adapt switching frequency to optimise light load efficiency.
