Apple's iPad faces strong competition as rival manufacturers will unveil the latest tablet computers at this year's Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas.
Companies such as Motorola and Dell are expected to unveil new models while Toshiba is also planning to launch the Toshiba Tablet. This will comprise two cameras for video chatting and taking photos, a high definition screen larger than the iPad's and the upcoming Honeycomb version of Google's smart phone software device Android that is more suited for tablets.
Toshiba said it plans to start selling the Tablet the end of June and, while a price has not yet been set, the company believes it will be competitive with the iPad, depending on its memory capacity and wireless capabilities.
Handset maker Motorola is also expected to reveal a Honeycomb based tablet, while tv manufacturer Vizio's VIA Tablet, is said to have a screen that measures 8in diagonally and can play hd videos, has an HDMI port, MicroSD memory card slot to add more memory and a front-facing camera.
DisplaySearch analyst Richard Semenza estimated that around 100 different tablet models are in development, though not all of them will reach shops.
