Low cost module features ARM core
A low cost module based on TI's OMAP3530 microcontroller family – which features the ARM-Cortex A8 core -- has been launched by Direct Insight. The module is optimised for embedded applications which require high performance but low power consumption.
SwiftModule-OM is a 68 x 35mm 200pin SODIMM system on module providing up to 256Mbyte of DDR333 SDRAM and 1Gbyte of NAND flash. Along with power management features for handheld devices, the module boasts audio, touch and Ethernet interfaces, along with an optional 802.11g WiFi interface.
The SwiftModule-OM plugs into the SwiftLite-OM development system, a 9cm square board that can also be customised to provide a complete production solution. SwiftLite-OM provides numerous connectors, comes with an 800 x 480 touch screen, and adds additional outputs such as LVDS and HDMI. An expansion connector makes most of the SwiftModule's connectivity available. The system ships with Windows CE 6.0 as standard and a Linux BSP will also follow.
