Microchip acquires embedded WiFi specialist
Microchip has announced the acquisition of Roving Networks, a privately held developer of WiFi certified transceivers and FCC certified WiFi and Bluetooth modules.
California based Roving Networks specialises in compact modules, serial adapters and custom products. Its low power modules offer fully embedded stacks that are aimed at simplifying customer designs.
Ganesh Moorthy, Microchip's coo, said: "The ubiquity of WiFi and Bluetooth connectivity is fuelling a growing number of embedded applications that take advantage of this rapidly expanding wireless infrastructure."
He added: "Roving Networks' easy to use solutions are tailor made for such embedded applications, and broaden the range of wireless connectivity options we offer customers to enable their end product innovation."
