Modest growth for microprocessors
A modest recovery in personal computers this year is expected to strengthen overall sales growth in the microprocessor market.
IC Insights says the sector will rise by 9% in 2014 to $66.7billion, up from $61bn in 2013.
Most of the lift is attributed to demand in the smartphones and tablet markets.
While revenues for microprocessors in pcs, servers and embedded systems fell by 2% in 2013 - after dropping 6% in 2012 - IC Insights says sales will rise by 2% in 2014 to reach $42.5bn.
