New a/d converters provide best dynamic range says Intersil

Intersil has unveiled a new range of high speed a/d converters that it claims provides industry leading signal to noise rations, while consuming little power.
According to the semiconductor specialist, the devices offer high input frequency performance, enabling simplified system architectures and reduce costs compared to traditional baseband architectures.
The ISLA212Pxx and ISLA214Pxx are 12 and 14bit a/d converters with maximum sampling rates of 130, 200 and 250MS/s. The signal to noise ratios are more than 73.0dBFS at 14bits and 70.5dBFS at 12bits for input frequencies up to 105MHz. The devices consume less than 450mW from a single 1.8V supply.
The devices use Intersil's FemtoCharge technology, which is designed to enable low power consumption without sacrificing the a/d converter's dynamic performance.
The series is part of Intersil's newest pin compatible a/d converter family. This allows users to re-use designs developed with any a/d converter from the range, substituting another a/d converter with a different resolution or sample rate without modifying the hardware design.
