OS targets Xilinx fpga designers
Building on its relationship with Xilinx, LynuxWorks has unveiled BlueCat Linux Micro Edition. The operating system allows designers to work with Linux on both the PowerPC and MicroBlaze architectures, as well as use LynxOS for the PowerPC.
Working with the MicroBlaze embedded development kit, BlueCat-ME configures a board support package (BSP) based on the parameters set within the kit. This allows software engineers to change the BSP if the fpga’s logic is reconfigured.
BlueCat-ME supports the Linux 2.6 kernel, and LynuxWorks claims to be the first embedded rtos supplier to enable developers to work with Linux on the PowerPC and MicroBlaze architectures. It also brings the latest Linux distribution to developers using non memory management unit architectures for their embedded systems.
