The Raspberry Pi Foundation is today celebrating the computer's first birthday.
The success of the low cost, credit card sized device, which was launched to inspire the next generation of programmers, has been nothing short of phenomenal.
In a blog post titled "Happy birthday to us!", foundation community manager Liz Upton wrote: "We never thought we'd find ourselves in the position we're in today, with a million Pis sold, a sprawling community, real evidence that kids are picking the Pi up and learning with it, and new friends from all over the world."
Raspberry Pi made its European debut on the element14 stand at Embedded World in 2012.
To celebrate an extraordinary year, the company is launching 'Raspberry Pi month', with a series of initiatives and road tests.
'MyPi' will highlight the top ten projects that will be promoted via the community and members will be asked to discuss and select their favourite as well as put forward their own projects.
Claire Doyle, global head of Raspberry Pi at element14, said: "When we launched Raspberry Pi a year ago who would have believed the phenomenal response this microcomputer would have generated.
"It has been a fantastic year and one we have been privileged to be a part of."
