Renesas continues its reorganisation with rejig of design and development structure

As part of its structural reforms, Renesas has shifted from a product focus to an application focus in order to better address customer demand. Having reorganised its manufacturing sites, the company has now turned its attention to strengthening its ability to offer solutions in its key domains: device solutions; kit solutions, combining MCUs, analogue and power devices; and platform solutions, including jointly developed software. Under this reorganisation, functions essential for the development of device solutions, including device development, sales promotion infrastructure and device applied technology, will be consolidated within Renesas System Design. The move is aimed at boosting development efficiency. Kits and platform solutions, as well as business promotion, will be consolidated within Renesas Electronics, in order to strengthen solution offerings for expanding markets, whilst Renesas Engineering Services will specialise in development and technical support. However, the fate of one organisation – Renesas Solutions – has yet to be decided. Its previous functions, which include product design, will be now be undertaken by Renesas Electronics and Renesas System Design.
