Renesas to broaden use of Vitaq for automotive software testing
1 min read
Following its initial purchase of Coveritas' Vitaq tool suite 18 months ago, Renesas is planning to rollout use of the intelligent test software to teams in Europe and India
"We have now successfully developed many Vitaq test suites for component releases of our AUTOSAR software products", said Meenakshi Rajamani, project manager at Renesas Electronics Europe's software competence centre. "Vitaq has helped us find many functional bugs which were not found with our conventional tools and standards based test suites."
Renesas originally purchased Vitaq to explore whether it could improve feature coverage during the automotive software testing process. "Early detection has allowed early correction, so reducing the risks of later rework or even product recalls," said Rajamani. "We can now provide our customers with earlier and higher quality software validation."
"Our team is delighted to see the outcome of Renesas' automotive software testing and are pleased with its plans for wider use of the Vitaq tool suite", said Giles Hall, Coveritas' chief technology officer.
* Vitaq won the Innovation of the Year category in the 2013 NMI Awards ceremony, recognising the potential impact of the tool suite on software test.
By using randomisation, Coveritas claims Vitaq represents a 'step change' in the way that software is tested and functionally verified, bringing the ability to find functional bugs that other methods may miss.
Since its release, Vitaq has been used by companies such as Cisco, Ericsson, Renesas and NXP.
