Samsung commences mass production of 20nanometer NAND chips
Samsung Electronics has announced that it has started mass producing the world's first 20nm NAND chips.
The memory chip manufacturer made the announcement as it released a secure digital (SD) memory card that comes with the chips.
According to Samsung, the 20nm based multi-level cell (MLC) NAND flash memory chips have a productivity level 50% higher than 30nm chips, which are mainly used as memory storage devices in digital cameras, music players and smartphones.
The company revealed that it plans to advance the application to moviNAND memory devices in the future.
