Samsung Electronics acquires STT-RAM specialist
Samsung Electronics has announced it is to acquire Grandis, a specialist in spin transfer torque random access memory (STT-RAM).
Grandis will be merged into Samsung R&D operations that are focused on developing the next evolution of memory, where new semiconductor materials and structures are reviewed for their long term commercial value. The company focuses on next generation memory solutions and will contribute to Samsung's development of memory semiconductor technologies and become part of the company's global R&D network.
The acquisition includes the full scope of technology, assets and human resources under Grandis and will be effective as of late July.
