Samsung, Intel collaborate on next generation mobile network architecture
Intel, Samsung Electronics and South Korean service provider KT have announced a collaboration on what they claim to be the world's first LTE solution based on Cloud Communication Center (CCC) network technology. The 'next generation' mobile network architecture is being demonstrated for the first time at Mobile World Congress, with trial testing due to being in Q3 2011.
The technology will utilise Samsung's LTE end to end solution and commercial servers powered by Intel architecture. The collaboration has been established in a bid to deliver a high quality of experience to users on KT's network and to securely manage their voice and data communications in a cost effective way.
"Network operators need to deliver a smart, secure experience to billions of new devices," said David Perlmutter, pictured, Intel executive vice president. "By utilising CCC technology based on Intel architecture, KT will be able to drive a faster rate of innovation and quickly expand network capacity as demand for services rises, all while maximising revenue."
