The security joint venture announced in April 2012 by ARM, Gemalto and Giesecke & Devrient has now been launched as a new company called Trustonic.
The new company's ceo Ben Cade said: "Trustonic builds upon decades of experience between ARM, Gemalto and G&D in developing secure technology for connected devices.
"The launch of Trustonic marks a turning point in our connected world. It will enable us to trust our smart connected devices to protect us as they deliver essential services and innovative user experiences."
According to the company, it will address the increasing need for trust to be built into smart connected devices and says its technology will allow service providers to innovate in areas such as enterprise, commerce, payments and entertainment. Amongst launch partners are 20th Century Fox, Cisco, MasterCard and Samsung.
Trustonic will look to develop a GlobalPlatform compliant Trusted Execution Environment (TEE), which will offer a common security standard for connected devices. Focused around ARM's TrustZone technology, the TEE will also feature security software and management systems from Gemalto and G&D.
GlobalPlatform is an industry association focused on facilitating the secure and interoperable deployment and management of multiple embedded applications on secure chip technology.
