Semiconductor market to grow by 4.5% in 2011?

Market analyst World Semiconductor Trade Statistics (WSTS) forecasts that the semiconductor market will grow by 4.5% to $313.8billion in 2011, following an estimated 32.7% increase to $300.4bn in 2010.

According to the statistics, the global economic crisis in 2009 resulted in contracting results at a -9% growth, totalling $226.3bn. However, the industry is now said to be recovering with revived enterprise and consumer spending. The new forecast presents a materially more optimistic estimate for the year 2010, reflecting an increase of $9.4bn over the WSTS Spring forecast. The industry is now expected to top $331.5bn in 2012, with a three year compound annual growth rate of 13.6% from 2009 to 2012.
