Server adapter supports two 10GbE ports
Intel has launched what it claims is the industry's first 10GBase-T server adapter to support SR-IOV for advanced network visualisation.
According to Intel, the adapter's energy efficient design allows it to support two 10GbE ports, allowing one to take over if the other fails, and to allow designers to combine both ports into one bigger virtual pipe, providing 20GbE of networking bandwidth.
Based on the Intel 82599 10 Gigabit Ethernet controller, the X520-T2 supports connectivity over distances of up to 100metres and includes enhancements for I/O virtualisation and SCSI.
