Spansion to acquire Fujitsu’s mcu and analogue business
Flash memory specialist Spansion has agreed to buy Fujitsu Semiconductor's microcontroller and analogue business for $110million.
"This acquisition provides incremental revenue and aligns with our strategy to expand into SoC solutions that require leadership in embedded flash technology," said John Kispert, pictured, Spansion's president and ceo.
The deal is part of a previously announced restructuring at Fujitsu. The net impact is expected to benefit Spansion's financial results this year.
"We have been strategic partners with Fujitsu Semiconductor for decades and share many of the same customers," Kispert continued. "We expect a seamless transition for all of the employees and customers."
