Altera is now shipping production volumes of the Stratix IV E EP4SE820, the highest density member of its 40nm Stratix IV FPGA family.
The device, with up to 820k logic elements, is suited for a variety of high end applications that require high density, high performance and low power.
Altera's Stratix IV fpga family is now complete, with all devices shipping in volume.
"The need for higher density, higher performance and lower power in fpga designs is a critical factor for customers when selecting the right device," said Luanne Schirrmeister, Altera's senior director of component product marketing.
"By targeting all three of these areas with Stratix IV E fpgas, we provide customers with a resource rich device that enables them to deliver greater product differentiation at a lower cost."
The EP4SE820 is said to be the highest density fpga in production, 23.1Mbit of embedded memory and 960 18x18 multipliers. It allows designs with up to 15million asic gates to be implemented.
