Michael Fallon, Minister for Business and Enterprise, and Khalil Rouhana, the European Commission's director for communications, content and technology, are to give the opening addresses at the forthcoming Future World Symposium conference and exhibition.

Taking place on 29 and 30 April at London's Twickenham Stadium, FWS2014 will see representatives from some of the world's leading technology companies take the stage to talk about future trends in the sector, including Freescale, Spotify, Imagination Technologies, Thales, Mentor Graphics, Cisco and ARM. The talks will assess the future direction of technology within the Internet of Things (IoT), the connected home, autonomous systems and connected intelligence sectors. Common themes across all sessions are the benefits and barriers for market adoption. John Moor, director of Future World Symposium, said: "The UK electronic systems industry has great opportunities in the smarter, connected and electronically enabled world and FWS2014 has been designed to bring leading players together with government, academia and key stakeholders to define these and ask 'what will hold us back?'. "We're delighted to welcome the Minister and the European Commission to the proceedings and in doing so we aim to build understanding, awareness and face the tough questions so UK industry can fully exploit its potential."
