Transceivers simplify design of small cell backhaul links

Infineon has introduced a new transceiver family, which it claims simplifies system design and production logistics.

The low power BGTx0 transceivers integrate all of the rf building blocks on a single chip in a plastic eWLB package. Infineon says they help to reduce fixed expenses in high data rate millimetre wave wireless backhaul communication systems by removing the need for more than 10 discrete devices used in current system designs. Validation and calibration of rf performance occurs in production using built-in-self-test (BIST), enabling the chip to be easily integrated into a device builder's production flow.
