UKEA announces name change
The UK Electronics Alliance (UKEA) is renaming itself. The organisation will now be known as the ESCO Executive.
The move follows the successful launch of the ESCO Report in June 2013, which highlighted the current value and importance of electronic systems to the UK economy.
A new industry council is also being set up to drive forward the goals set out in the report.
The ESCO Council will be co-chaired by former ARM chief Warren East and Michael Fallon, Minister of State for Business and Energy.
According to a statement, the ESCO Executive and the ESCO Council are already working together to implement the recommendations in the ESCO Report, including business and technology strategy, skills and supply chain development.
