Virtex-7 based board tackles high bandwidth, low latency applications

Curtiss-Wright Controls Defense Solutions has launched the CHAMP-WB board.
Based on Xilinx' Virtex-7 fpga, the board is intended for use in sense and response applications which require high bandwidth and minimal latency.
When used with the Curtiss-Wright's TADF-4300 board, which features Tektronix' 12.5Gsample/s a/d and d/a technologies, the two modules are said to provide the highest bandwidth and resolution for wideband digital radio frequency memory processing.
CHAMP-WB is designed to support applications that need large amounts of I/O bandwidth, along with significant fpga processing. Its modular design supports standard Virtex-7 compatible FMC mezzanine cards as well as for higher throughput modules such as the TADF-4300. Applications include direct rf digitisation, ground penetrating radar and coherent optical applications, as well as signal intelligence and electronic countermeasures.
"The establishment of our data converters business was in direct response to requests from instrumentation customers to access the underlying high performance a/d and d/a technologies," said Tom Buzak, president, Tektronix Component Solutions.
"While we continue to offer custom solutions incorporating our data converters, the combination of our technology with Curtiss-Wright's expertise in ruggedised embedded computing systems delivers next generation performance to a host of commercial and defence applications requiring standard form factors."
